Q: Where’s the Robot Trading Company website gone?
It’s right here, embedded within our shiny new Angry Robot website!
Q: Why can’t I log in using my Robot Trading Company account?
You should have received an email from us with your new login details. If that hasn’t worked properly, please
give send us a message.
Q: Where are my ebooks?
Your Robot Trading Company account has been transferred to the Angry Robot site, and all your books should be in your My Account > Downloads page. If you have any trouble at all downloading your titles, please
give us a yell and we will send you your ebooks directly
.
Q: What about my subscription?
Customers with subscriptions in January 2017 will find all the ebooks received as part of their subscription on your My Account > Downloads page. If you need a copy of a book you’ve previously downloaded, please
contact us and we’ll email them to you.
Buying ebooks
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
Currently we accept payment via PayPal, which means you can pay by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Maestro, Switch, Solo, Visa Delta and Visa Electron.
Please note you do not have to have a PayPal account to pay with PayPal, which will process a one-off payment without asking you to open an account. Well, unless you live in Canada… it seems PayPal Canada have a different system to the rest of their operation. Possibly a couple of other PayPal regions as well. If PayPal seems to be forcing you to open an account before they let you pay for ebooks then we’re sorry about that, but it’s out of our hands…
Q: Why do I have to create an account in order to buy your ebooks?
You don’t, but it’s easy to misplace files, and sometimes people change devices. If you create an account when you buy your first ebook, you can download it again by logging into Your Account.
Drop us a line if you’re having any trouble re-downloading anything.
Q: I’ve just bought my ebook(s) – how do I download it/them?
Three ways:
- Once your payment has processed your Checkout screen should contain a download link for the books.
- You will receive an email confirming your order, with a download link.
- Through ‘My Account’ you will have a list of all your orders and download links for them.
The zip file or ePub file will then download to your computer in the usual way. All of our ebooks are sold as a Zip File that contains both the ePub and Mobi versions of that ebook. Save the zip file to your computer, unzip it to access your ebooks and then load them onto your device of choice in the usual manner.
If you’re not sure how to load an ebook onto your ereader, please consult the user manual or help files that came with your reader device.
Q: I’ve just bought an ebook from you and my PayPal account is telling me I’ve bought it from “Watkins Media” or “Watkins/AR” or “Watkins and Cygnus”. What gives?
Nothing to worry about. Watkins Media is Angry Robot’s parent company and our transactions are handled via a PayPal account that they set up.
Q: The pricing in your store is a few cents different to the price I’ve been charged through PayPal. Why is this?
All our novel-length eBooks are sold at £5.49 (UK Sterling). Depending on where you live, you may see the prices in US dollars. These prices are an approximate real-time conversion using international exchange rates. Your bank or PayPal might use a slightly different exchange rate to convert from sterling to your local currency.
Q: Where else can I buy your eBooks?
You can buy them from iBookstore, Amazon, Waterstones, Barnes and Noble and a range of independent ebook retailers.

Ebook Formats
Q: What ebook formats do you sell?
All Angry Robot ebooks are sold as a Zip File that contains both the ePub (Nook) and Mobi (Kindle) versions of that ebook. Using an ebook conversion utility, such as Calibre (free to download from www.calibre-ebook.com) you can convert the files to whichever device you prefer.
Q: What about DRM?
Books bought from this website are sold DRM-free. Books bought from other online retailers may vary – we do not ask for DRM to be imposed on any of our ebooks, though some stores add it by default.
Q: Aren’t you concerned about piracy?
Yes, of course we are. We’d much rather people bought our books so we can continue to pay our authors, and continue to invest in new authors – we just believe that the best way to counter piracy is to offer our ebooks in the right format, at the right price, rather than impose restrictions.

Troubleshooting and HELP!
HELP! My file doesn’t work!
Our ebooks are supplied as Zip files and we’ve found in the past that some browser / OS configurations are renaming the file when unzipping, and removing the ‘.epub’ after the filename. You should find that simply renaming it after unzipping (by adding ‘.epub’ to the end of the file) solves the problem. Otherwise, please
get in touch – include your order number, and we’ll email you the original epub or mobi file(s) – please let us know if you have a preference.
