Charlotte Haley is a lifelong horror fan, film fanatic, and black belt in Shotokan karate. PELT was recently shortlisted for the Scottish Book Trust’s Ignite Fellowship for Emerging Writers 2025. As part of her research for the novel, Charlotte undertook an SFX make-up course with Gibbet FX.
Charlotte links her strong inspiration for stories built around craft and creating to her upbringing in a centre of the UK’s industrial world, the city of Sunderland.
She currently lives in Edinburgh and works for the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
